Assembly
Place the keyboard upside down in a clean place. Remove the backplate of the keyboard. It is attached by multiple small screws. Then remove carefully the old membrane.
Ensure that all plungers are ok and clean and none of then present signs of damage.
Then present the new membrane and figure the orientation by looking at the plunger layout and the contacts in the membrane. Note that the contact side goes against the plungers. Then turn the membrane and place it on the keyboard.
Note that the keyboard assembly presents some features to correctly align both the membrane end the back plate:
Check that the membrane is aligned and place the back plate. The backplate uses the same alignment features.
Now reattach all the small screws, beginning from the center and then all of them. Do not over tighten. Remember that the screws are small and they go into a plastic thread.
Now you’re ready to reassemble the computer. The keyboard must be attached to the upper case.
To close the computer you have to connect the membrane to the motherboard: First place the upper case on the right of the lower half to align both sides. Ensure then the membrane reaches the connector without twisting. You have to place both halves of the computer close enough to easily grab the membrane connector without twisting the cable. Using both hands insert the membrane end completely into the board connector.
To close the computer, slowly turn around the upper half without placing stress in the membrane cable.
You can now finish the computer assembly placing the remaining screws. Done!
